Dannevirke Central Kindergarten provides quality learning experiences for 3 and 4 year olds, from both the urban and rural population of the Dannevirke community.  The Kindergarten runs an all day licence with 40 children a day on the roll, from 8.30-2.30, with four full time teachers, one teacher aide and a part-time office administrator.  The children from our kindergarten feed out into all schools in the Dannevirke area.

We believe children learn through play.  At Dannevirke Central Kindergarten, children actively engage and explore in the learning environment, with an emphasis on such curriculum areas as literacy, physical development, ICT, imaginary play, sensory experiences, and relationships. Children’s interests, knowledge and strengths are recognised and help to develop the programme through our on-going planning stories as well as spontaneous learning experiences.

We strive to create a warm and welcoming place where children, whanau, families and teachers all feel safe and happy, with a strong sense of belonging in their learning environment.
